Ledbetter named Sheriff of Jackson County
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors today appointed John Ledbetter to serve as Jackson County Sheriff. Ledbetter fills the unexpired term of Mike Ezell, who was elected to serve Mississippi’s Fourth Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
“It will be the honor of my life to serve as Sheriff,” said Ledbetter. “I’m honored by the Supervisors’ faith in me, grateful for the trust they’re placing in my abilities to lead, and humbled by this opportunity to serve.”
After the appointment, Chancery Clerk Josh Eldridge issued the oath of office to a round of applause in the room.
“I’ve spent many years planning and preparing for my time as Sheriff,” said Ledbetter. “I have clear priorities for my administration and I’m ready to hit the ground running today.”
